Chrome Mad

We have all heard “in the wrong place at the wrong time” and it seems for the co-owner of California Chrome it was the right place maybe not the best time. Right after everyone’s favorite horse California Chrome tied for fourth place and did not win the Triple Crown co-owner Steve Coburn had some choice words.
After those words social media was split – some felt Coburn was being a sore loser and some felt that he was right on. So what was his argument?
Coburn feels that those horses that did not participate in the Kentucky Derby or Preakness should not be allowed to participate in the Belmont.
Coburn said –
“It’s all or nothing. It’s not fair to these horses that are running their guts out. This is a cowards’ way out,” Coburn said on NBC. “If you’ve got a horse that earns points, that runs in the Kentucky Derby, those horses should be the only ones who should run in all three races.”
He definitely has a point and gave people something to think about. Should he have been so vocal right after the race? Well it seems everyone has an opinion on that piece. But haven’t we all watched a sporting event and right after the event some reporter sticks a microphone up to someone’s mouth wanting that “golden” response. Then when the response makes some people cringe or is so unexpected (remember Richard Sherman after the Super Bowl) everyone has something to say – good or bad.
What did people expect Coburn to say? “Well we tried, at least we won the other two” hell no – this was history in the making. Of course he was upset and he let it out despite his wife’s failed attempts to calm him down.

So let’s not crown him a sore loser just yet but a man who is passionate and wanting what is right and what is fair.
