Congrats Famous Jameis

I don’t think it was a big surprise to anyone that Florida State University’s quarterback Jameis Winston won the 79th Heisman Trophy.

Winston had 668 of the first place votes with Alabama’s AJ McCarron who came in second place getting 79 of the first place votes.

At 19 years old Winston is the youngest player to win the Heisman and only the 2nd redshirt freshman to win.

Talk about a beast – he led the Seminoles to a 13-0 regular season and now the Noles are on their way to a National Championship against Auburn.

I really liked Winston’s speech where the theme was “the process” and he talked about his process of getting to where he is today, the love for his family and he shared some personal stories about this father.  He talked about a few years ago when his father wasn’t working and he had to step up and get a job to help support the family.  But through it all his father remained committed to him living his dream and making sure the family was okay.

It was touching to see this young guy talk about his dad and the respect he has for him.  So often we all hear stories about the detriment to the African-American family where the father is not around.  But there are many of us who did have fathers in the house but those stories aren’t told.

Jameis Winston is going to be one of those guys you look forward to seeing grow as a quarterback and I can’t wait to see him in the NFL!
