FAREWELL B

WELL it probably was not the way Bernard Hopkins wanted to officially retire.  But that is part of life sometimes you are not in a place to write how it ends.

After seven competitive rounds with Joe Smith Jr. – Hopkins was knocked out of the ring (literally) and was unable to come back and fight due to an ankle injury.  So after almost 30 years in the ring and 20 middleweight title defenses the fighting journey of Bernard Hopkins was over.

It is always bitter sweet to watch a great athlete finish his career especially not in the way you want it to end.

But even the good ones can lose at the end.

Bernard thanks for always giving 100% and keeping it 100.  You are destined to be part of the boxing hall of fame and you will always be remembered as a great champion.

So tonight may not be the way you wanted your career to end – but you will be remembered for so much more and all of us boxing fans that is more to end.
