I never met Pat Summitt personally but she was always someone who I truly admired from afar.  I loved the fact that she was fearless and tough.  When you thought of Pat Summitt you thought of a great coach.  I never thought of her as a “female” coach – she was just a great coach period. Pat Summitt earned respect and because of all that she did she took gender out of the equation.

During her 38 seasons as the head coach of Tennessee she led her team to 1,098 victories — the most in Division I college basketball history (men or women).

Coach Summitt stepped down in 2012 one year before announcing she had early onset dementia.

She has left an amazing legacy and I can’t thank her enough for paving the way for the rest of us.
