“We’re gonna fight this”

When I heard of Lauren Hill’s story I was deeply moved.

Last year Lauren Hill was a senior at Lawrenceburg High School – healthy, hanging out with friends and enjoying life.

Then a year later Lauren is now battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) an inoperable brain condition with a survival rate of 0% and where she was told she won’t make it past December.

But Lauren is a fighter and she’s looking forward to college and starting her basketball career at Mount Saint Joseph’s in Cincinnati.

Lauren had just one wish – to play her first and last game as she put it at her school. She asked the NCAA if they could move the home opener date up to November 2nd instead of November 15th.  The NCAA granted her request and on November 2nd we were able to witness what it means to be not only a survivor but an inspiration.

Lauren showed us all what it means to never give up on your dreams.

Lauren has reminded me to live life to the fullest and to appreciate all those around me. We shouldn’t take our lives for granted – regardless of your circumstance just waking up every morning is a gift.

Lauren you are in my prayers and you keep doing what makes you happy and yes we are going to fight this.
