WHAT the Buc?

YEAH I get it – the NFL is a business and it is all about “What have you done for me lately?” but there are times when I’m scratching my head on some of the decisions being made.

When I heard that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had fired coach Lovie Smith I was upset.  First I thought “not again” after everything he went through with the Bears.  See I appreciate good coaches in the NFL and Lovie has always seemed to me anyway as a stand up guy.

So when the Bears kicked him to the curb I was excited to see him get another chance with the Bucs.

The record did not show it but the Bucs had some close games and you could see their potential for next season.  I mean this is the team with the number one draft pick – quarterback Jameis Winston.

So to hear that Lovie was fired (and rumor has it over the phone) after just two seasons my heart sank.  The league can be cruel – just ask RG III.  But it seems teams aren’t letting coaches develop and given a chance to turn things around.

I wish teams were like the Steelers who pretty much hire a coach for life.

Again I know it’s a business but sometimes business sucks and I wish all the best to coach Smith.
